Florida State is battling an SEC school for 4-star defensive back Ta'Shawn Poole

This is a pivotal recruitment for the Florida State Seminoles to win.

Florida State's 2027 recruiting class is still a work in progress with only ten commitments. With that said, the outlook for the Seminoles' haul is much better as of late. They landed four-star running back Jayden Miles, four-star wide receiver Sean Green, four-star linebacker Jernard Albright, three-star linebacker Olrick Johnson III, and three-star defensive lineman Eric Vaulx Jr.

If I had told you that this much momentum would come in such a short timeframe, fans would have asked to check my temperature to make sure that I didn't have a fever. The reality is that head coach Mike Norvell is still employed at Florida State, and the 7-17 record over the last two years remains.

This factor makes it more difficult for the Seminoles to recruit highly-touted prospects. This isn't to say Coach Norvell cannot get it done; I want no one in the Garnet and Gold to fail. However, the harsh truth is that he is firmly on the hot seat with his recent losing woes.

Florida State is running into a dilemma because many of the recruits that choose the Seminoles want assurance for him being there for the 2027 season. It looks like the Seminoles either feel confident that they can make a step in the right direction for next year, or they are increasing the ante of paying prospects so they cannot resist coming to Tallahassee.

Either way, I have talked about the front office doing a solid job of ensuring that they can grab prospects that are obtainable. They should not focus on "star-gazing" just for the sake of it. This isn't to say go grab 30 three-star prospects because they can be obtained. This is Florida State, and the talent pool should be there. However, they should spend their resources wisely and know their limits.

Florida State is battling Tennessee for Class of 2027 four-star safety target Ta'Shawn Poole

Florida State is hosting six prospects on campus this weekend for official visits. They had ten on campus last weekend, so the group is smaller, but it should be noted that there are still must-grab prospects.

The headliner of the bunch is four-star safety Ta'Shawn Poole from Howard High School in Macon, Georgia. A four-star safety prospect from the state of Georgia for the Seminoles will give the fan base PTSD from the KJ Bolden situation.

With that said, Poole is worth taking a risk on. He is a top-100 prospect in the 247Sports Composite rankings. The Seminoles need to replenish the position group after four-star MeKhi Williams decided to decommit and go to Wisconsin.

The real issue with Poole is that Florida State is battling Tennessee for his services at this time. The Volunteers hosted the Georgia native for an official visit, and he has even mentioned that those were the two schools that were high in his recruitment.

Poole continues to show Florida State and its coaching staff love. An exact announcement date has not been released, but the defensive back has an official visit with Miami on the weekend of June 19th, so we will see if the Hurricanes get heavily involved. We all know how they throw money around like it is candy.

This will be an important recruitment to win and ensure that they can land what would be their highest-ranked prospect in the class.
