FSU football in the market for another tight end in its 2021 recruiting class. A Mississippi product is high on the Noles.

I wrote a few weeks ago the Noles were looking to stack up talent at the tight end position in the 2021 recruiting cycle.

The Noles have two tight ends committed in JUCO product Koby Gross and high schooler Jackson West.

I’ve thought all along the Noles would take two high school players and possibly a JUCO player.

That could be coming to fruition if the Noles can land three-star tight end Jalen Shead. The Mississippi product announced his top five schools Friday afternoon via his Twitter account:

And then there were 5….🖐🏽😁 (Recruitment Still Open) @Xtreme_Auto6 @ChadSimmons_ #LLC #LLQ🕊 pic.twitter.com/bo0bjWk6rb

Shead doesn’t have a composite ranking, but 247 Sports rates him as a three-star player. They have him as the No. 58 tight end nationally and the No. 19 player in the state of Mississippi.

He has 20 offers from the likes of FSU, Alabama, LSU, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Colorado, Lousiville, Kansas State, TCU, and other smaller schools.

He checks in at 6’4″ and 235 pounds, which is an excellent size for a high school tight end who also plays basketball.

I wouldn’t let the lack of a composite ranking scare you because his offer list has some heavy hitters. The good thing going for the Noles is they offered him early, and he’s from the same state as FSU QB commit Luke Altmyer.

There are no 247 Crystal Ball predictions for Shead but I feel like the Noles are in a good place here. He’s been recruited by FSU tight ends coach Chris Thomsen for a while, but the key will be being able to get him on campus once things open back up.

If the Noles were to land Shead, they’d likely be done with recruiting for the tight end position in the 2021 recruiting cycle.
