FSU football got its tenth commitment in its 2021 recruiting class and reactions from all over to pour in for the Alabama addition.

FSU football added a verbal commitment from three-star tight end Jackson West Monday morning.

It was the third 2021 commitment in less than a week for the Noles.

The Huntsville, Alabama, product had 27 other offers as he chose the Noles over the likes of TCU, Boston College, Duke, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, and other smaller schools.

He checks in at 6’4″ and 231 pounds and doesn’t have a composite ranking, however, 247 Sports ranks him as the No. 29 tight end in the nation and the No. 25 player in the state of Alabama.

He announced the commitment via his good friend’s Twitter account:

Thoughts On His Commitment

West is a solid addition to the class and is probably a better athlete than most give him credit for.

He posted a 4.77 forty yard dash over a year ago and a 29″ vertical while competing at The Opening.

Most importantly, he’s solid in the classroom and is a hard worker which is something the coaching staff covets in raising the floor of the program.

He also has good size and will likely be able to add more to his frame once he gets into FSU’s strength and conditioning program. The tight end position is an important part of Mike Norvell’s offense, and having tight ends that can catch AND block in the running game is vital.

West will ultimately be a player who’ll be adept at both. I liken him to a Ryan Izzo type of player who was productive while at FSU and is in the NFL with the New England Patriots. However, West could see better college production based on how Mike Norvell uses the tight end in his offense.

He’s the first tight end commitment for 2021 and I expect the Noles to add at least one more in the class.
