FSU baseball prepares for the final month of the regular season playing some of the hottest baseball in the entire country – just in time for the postseason.

It was just three weeks ago when – and it’s not easy to write something like this, but – the FSU baseball team was clearly in a crisis mode after dropping yet another game to the rival Florida Gators, a loss to those in orange and blue that not only extended that losing streak but was reflective of where the Seminoles were going.

That loss, the 12th in the previous 18 games for the Seminoles on the diamond, dropped the Seminoles to 19-13 on the season and had the Noles wondering if they would be home watching the postseason for the first time in the 40 seasons under head coach Mike Martin – who is in his final season leading the FSU baseball program.

Fast forward those three weeks and the Seminoles look like a completely different team on the diamond. In the last 11 games over that time period, the Noles have won nine that includes a three game sweep over a ranked Clemson team, series wins over both Virginia and Wake Forest and a two game midweek sweep over Stetson.

Now, the FSU baseball team prepares for the final 12 games of the regular season – a span that includes home series against Pitt and Richmond, a road finale series against Louisville along with a doubleheader against Jacksonville and a road game at Stetson – with a 28-15 record that includes being ranked again and having a new found life.

Starting pitcher Drew Parrish has gone lights out over the past three weeks, earning ACC pitcher of the week honors after leading the Seminoles to their third straight opening game win of a series in which FSU baseball has outscored their opponents 33-6 over that three game span.

But has everything turned around in time for hopes that the Seminoles can make a deep postseason run and get Martin that elusive first national title?

In the final 12 games of the regular season, FSU baseball has a total of six games left against both the best and worst teams in the ACC right now – as well as five non-conference games against teams with winning records (Jacksonville and Richmond) and one against a losing record team (Stetson).

For the Noles to get to that 40 win mark before the NCAA tournament is scheduled to begin – a streak dating back to before Martin took over – they MUST win at least nine games the rest of the regular season and win three games in the ACC tournament the weekend before, which would give them 40 wins exactly regardless of what would take place in the title game.

Is FSU baseball playing much better and doing what they should have been doing? Yes. Does that mean the old woes have gone away? One can only hope.
