Here’s a preview of FSU baseball and their next set of games during the 2019 season.

They aren’t always going to be pretty in the world of sports, but the FSU baseball team discovered that it isn’t always how you start the game but how it finishes – although it would have been nice if they didn’t make the fans inside of Dick Howser Stadium this week way too nervous about what was taking place.

But, the Seminoles did see that they know how to comeback from a deficit – and kept their record unbeaten as they head into the first of 10 weekends of playing Atlantic Coast Conference foes this regular season in the final run for head coach Mike Martin.

This weekend could be a little bit more special, however, as the man in the No. 11 jersey could end up finishing it with a win that would put him in company that no one else has seen before in the history of the game.

Here’s our preview of this weekend’s games between the Seminoles and their foe during this week of action.

The Last Time The ‘Noles Took The Field

For the first time this season, FSU baseball was able to actually play a midweek game – and for the first time this season, they found themselves in real trouble as the North Florida Ospreys scored three runs in the first inning and chased Seminoles starter Antonio Velez after just a third of an inning.

The Noles got one run in the second inning and tied the game in the seventh on a two run homer from Elijah Cabell. The hero of the day would be Nander De Sedas as he doubled in the ninth inning to bring home Matheu Nelson and give FSU baseball their 11th win of the season with a 4-3 victory.

Opponent Preview

The Seminoles welcome the Virginia Tech Hokies to town for a three game series starting Friday night inside Dick Howser Stadium with two games taking place on Saturday. After starting the season with seven straight wins, the Hokies have dropped three of their last four games that include dropping two of three last weekend to Bryant and losing a midweek game to Liberty.

For the season, Virginia Tech is batting .269 as a team and averaging around six runs a game while their pitching staff is holding opponents to a .224 batting average and have an earned run average of 2.76 on the season.

Interesting Fact

FSU baseball needs just two wins this weekend to get Martin to the magical number of 2,000 wins for his 40 seasons with the Seminoles – and judging by recent history, he should get that at some point this weekend.
