Let’s take a look at how FSU and their Olympic sport teams did this past week.

While much of the attention is paid to the major FSU sports, including football, basketball and baseball, there is plenty of other athletic competition going on right now on the Tallahassee campus and across the country involving the ‘Noles. Here’s a recap of how some of the Olympic sports fared this past week.

Softball

It was a clean sweep of games this week for the top ranked team in the country, as the Lady ‘Noles won all six games they played this week. FSU took two games from Florida Gulf Coast and one from Canisius before heading back to Tallahassee and getting a clean sweep of Notre Dame – winning the three game series by a combined score of 28-0. This week, it’s off to Orlando for a Wednesday showdown with UCF before heading back to ACC play on the road at Virginia.

Beach Volleyball

It was off to the land of Aloha this past weekend for the fourth ranked Lady ‘Noles, who played six games over three days – getting four wins over Nebraska, Hawai’i, Arizona and Utah while dropping both their meetings with USC, the same team who knocked them out in the national title match last season. FSU will see those Trojans again this weekend in the Gamecock Grand Slam, also facing host South Carolina along with Georgia State and Stetson.

Men’s and Women’s Track and Field

Both teams sent several members down to Tampa for the Bulls Invitational, hosted by USF. Florida State left with five individual titles at the meet – setting them up with momentum heading into this weekend’s FSU Relays, featuring college athletes from Alabama, FSU, Georgia Tech and more on Friday followed by the top high school talent on Saturday.

Men’s and Women’s Tennis

The 28th ranked men’s team had quite the successful weekend, getting a 6-1 win over Clemson on Friday and a 7-0 sweep of rival Miami on Sunday. FSU will head to Louisville on Friday before returning home to face UCF on Sunday. The women’s team on the other hand, dropped matches against North Carolina and third ranked Duke by a combined 13-1 score this weekend. They will join the men’s team in Louisville on Friday before heading to Pittsburgh this weekend.

Men’s and Women’s Golf

The men’s team is just down the road in Palm City, taking part in the Valspar Collegiate Invitational with schools such as Wake Forest, Texas and more. It will be the last time on the links until April 7th, when they take part of the Irish Creek Invitational in North Carolina. The women’s team took a third place finish last weekend in the Notre Dame Clover Cup in Arizona – now, they get a weekend off before taking part in the Clemson Invitational.

Men’s and Women’s Swimming

The women’s team completed their season with the NCAA Championships, which the men’s team will be taking part in this week.
