Let’s take a look at how FSU and their Olympic sport teams did this past week.

While much of the attention is paid to the major FSU sports, including football, basketball and baseball, there is plenty of other athletic competition going on right now on the Tallahassee campus and across the country involving the ‘Noles. Here’s a recap of how some of the Olympic sports fared this past week.

Softball

The top ranked Lady ‘Noles again had a successful week both at home and on the road. After a midweek two game sweep of North Florida, FSU went on the road for the ACC opener against Virginia Tech. Bad weather expected over the weekend forced a doubleheader Friday, which the ‘Noles swept before taking Saturday’s finale. Florida State returns to the Sunshine State for a three game midweek set in Fort Myers (two against FGCU, one against Canisius) followed by a home series with Notre Dame.

Beach Volleyball

The second ranked Lady ‘Noles were on the West Coast this weekend, sweeping matches on Saturday with Long Beach State and Cal Poly before dropping both of their Sunday matches against UCLA and Pepperdine. From there, it’s off to Hawai’i for another tournament featuring teams such as USC, Arizona, Hawai’i and Nebraska starting Thursday.

Men’s and Women’s Track and Field

The indoor portion of the schedule game to an end last week with the NCAA Indoor Championships. Now, the Seminoles focus fully on their outdoor slate for the rest of the way, continuing this week with some athletes in Tampa for the Bulls Invitational hosted by USF – while others will be in Atlanta for the Yellow Jackets Invitational hosted by Georgia Tech.

Men’s and Women’s Tennis

The men’s team had just one match this week – but, boy did it count for more than just a win as the No. 36 ranked Seminoles upset rivals and No. 11 ranked Florida 4-2 near Orlando. FSU returns to conference play this weekend with home matches against Clemson and Miami. For the Lady ‘Noles, it was a weekend to forget with losses to Illinois and Penn. They will return home this weekend for ACC matches against Duke and North Carolina.

Men’s and Women’s Golf

The men’s team played host to 13 of the top programs in the country this weekend in the Seminole Intercollegiate Tournament, finishing tied for second with Georgia Tech and just three strokes behind winner Penn State. Starting Sunday, they will be in Palm Bay for the Valspar Collegiate Tournament. The Lady ‘Noles return to action in Arizona starting Friday for the Notre Dame Clover Cup

Men’s and Women’s Swimming

While the men’s team still has another week for their tournament, the Lady ‘Noles will be in Indianapolis starting on Wednesday to take part in the NCAA Championships.
