2016 NFL Schedule Full Of Highlights For FSU Football Fans
By Jason Parker
Here’s a look at some of the games on the 2016 NFL schedule that FSU fans will want to pay attention to.
With the 2016 NFL Draft just two weeks away (with former FSU star Jalen Ramsey likely to go pretty high in the first round), the pro football league got a jump start on all the hype by releasing their regular season schedule in its entirety on Thursday night.
With 256 games on the schedule for all 32 teams, fans were eager to find out where and when their favorite team will play each week. In the case of fans and alumni of Florida State, it was also a time to find out when their favorite former Seminoles would be taking the field, in some cases against one another.
While the complete schedule can be found by clicking this link, here’s a look at some of the games that have a certain interest to fans of the ‘Noles:
Week 1
Carolina at Denver (Thursday 9/8 on NBC) – Not only a Super Bowl rematch, but the return of Kelvin Benjamin for the Panthers.
Tampa Bay at Atlanta (Sunday 9/11 on FOX) – Jameis Winston takes the field against his former FSU backfield teammate Devonta Freeman. Also play in Week 9 on Thursday 11/3 on NFL Network.
San Diego at Kansas City (Sunday 9/11 on CBS) – If most mock drafts are correct, this will be the first game for Jalen Ramsey in the NFL.
Week 2
Miami at New England (Sunday 9/18 on CBS) – After starting the year on the road at Seattle and against the Patriots, FSU fans who root for Miami will need a hug. Also play in Week 17 on Sunday 1/1 on CBS.
Jacksonville at San Diego (Sunday 9/18 on CBS) – Ramsey could be lining up head to head against former FSU teammate, WR Rashad Greene.
Week 3
St. Louis at Tampa Bay (Sunday 9/25 on FOX) – Winston will try to avoid being intercepted by Lamarcus Joyner the day after FSU takes the field at Raymond James Stadium against USF.
Week 4
Carolina at Atlanta (Sunday 10/2 on FOX) – It will be a 2013 national champ reunion when Benjamin takes on Freeman for the first time. Also play in Week 16 on Saturday 12/24 on FOX.
Buffalo at New England (Sunday 10/2 on CBS) – The Bills could have two ‘Noles in the backfield with Karlos Williams and James Wilder Jr. against the Pats and center Bryan Stork. Also meet in Week 8 on Sunday 10/30 in CBS.
Week 5
Tennessee at Miami (Sunday 10/9 on CBS) – After the ‘Noles take on the Hurricanes the day before, stick around to see if the Dolphins can win a game they are expected to.
Tampa Bay at Carolina (Monday 10/10 on ESPN) – Winston and Benjamin go from scoring title winning touchdowns to trying and beat each other. Also meet in Week 17 on Sunday 1/1 on FOX.
Week 7
Buffalo at Miami (Sunday 10/23 on CBS) – Last season, Williams had his coming out party against the Dolphins on this South Florida field. Also meet in Week 16 on Saturday 12/24 on CBS.

Week 12
Why not enjoy plenty of Thanksgiving Day football starting with Minnesota at Detroit (CBS), Washington at Dallas (FOX) and Pittsburgh at Indianapolis (NBC). There may not be many ‘Noles, but it’s a national holiday for watching the pigskin.
Week 13
Tampa Bay at San Diego (Sunday 12/4 on FOX) – Winston wanted to play with Ramsey in the Bay Area, but this will likely be the closest these two get to being on the same field.
Week 16
With most of the games being played on Christmas Eve (a Saturday) this year, the league is stepping on the NBA’s toes and playing games on Christmas Day again this year with two games, featuring Baltimore at Pittsburgh (NFL Network) and Denver at Kansas City (NBC).
With the NFL’s new flex scheduling regarding games, times and networks could change, so make sure to check before buying tickets, booking hotels or order chicken wings to watch your favorite ‘Noles or NFL team in action.
