Jimbo Fisher knew he had a young FSU Football team in 2015. Those players will be more experienced 2016 and could make some noise.

The 2015 FSU Football season was a weird one for Florida State fans. It was the first year after watching all world FSU quarterback Jameis Winston for two seasons, and a lot of talent had gone to the NFL which required younger players to step.

FSU brought in former Notre Dame quarterback Everett Golson, but he struggled to pick up Fisher’s offense in such a short amount of time.

That meant Sean Maguire who had all of one start in his two years at FSU had to see consistent playing time for the first time ever.

The offense struggled and was wildly inconsistent outside of what running back Dalvin Cook brought to the table. FSU still won 10 games for the fourth consecutive year, and really beat itself in two of the three losses with turnovers.

Jimbo Fisher gave his thoughts at an All Sports Association event Friday, on last year and the future of FSU Football.

"“We were not disappointed in our season. We had 10 wins. We played in a New Year’s Day Major Six Bowl,” he said. “We didn’t play as well as we wanted to in that (bowl) game, but that’s ball … you move on. There’s ups and downs in this, but we are very positive in the direction our program is going. Players are the key. We are recruiting very well.“We have a very young football team right now again … but a very experienced one and so we look forward to the future.”"

Jimbo Fisher is speaking to the fact that his staff signed the No. 2 ranked composite recruiting class in the nation, and the No. 1 class in the ACC. Fisher has owned the state of Florida, a state that arguably produces more top talent than any other state.

The entire FSU offense will return next season, so more consistency should be expected. The defense loses Jalen Ramsey who’ll likely be a top five pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, and two linebackers in Terrance Smith and Reggie Northrup. However, there’s talented players waiting in the wings to get their shot, next man up.

The 2016 season will be one that could see FSU make another championship run, but they’ll be tested early in the season. We’ll be breaking down the schedule in the coming weeks to talk about FSU’s chances of making the NCAA playoffs to contend for a National Championship.
