We are in the transfer portal window period for college football teams across the country. Florida State football understands that it needs to acquire talent in the portal to erase the 5-7 campaign that it had in 2025.

The Seminoles are off to a good start, where they have picked up thirteen new transfers to their roster. I even wrote an article highlighting how I would grade Florida State football's transfer haul thus far.

It is the nature of the business during this current climate of college football. It makes it even worse that the Seminoles have won seven games in the last two years, and the bad news continues to be out of control.

Thirty-eight players from the Seminoles' roster announced their intentions to enter the transfer portal, which makes the fan base nervous about their outlook for the 2026 season. With that said, here are five transfers that Florida State fans hated to see leave Tallahassee.

Wide receiver Lawayne McCoy (Louisville)

Florida State grabbed former four-star wide receiver prospect Lawayne McCoy out of Miami, Florida. It was an excellent acquisition at the time for the Seminoles because he was someone in the 2024 recruiting class that many teams wanted. The pass catcher had a rising sophomore season, where he had 27 receptions for 396 yards and three touchdowns last year (according to ESPN Stats and Information). It would have been nice to see how his junior season with another year of development went. He transferred over to Louisville, who the Seminoles face on the road next season.

Tight end Randy Pittman Jr. (SMU)

Florida State fans are completely tired of this coaching staff grabbing more tight ends for this offense because they aren't the flashy gets. Former UCF tight end transfer Randy Pittman Jr. was likely secured because of his relationship with offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn. He was seen putting Alabama defenders on their backs, but he battled through injuries this past season. The fan base loved the physicality he showed. Pittman Jr. committed to SMU, which Florida State plays in 2026.

Defensive tackle Kevin Wynn (undecided)

Florida State lured in one of the better defenders in the state of Georgia for their 2025 recruiting class in four-star defensive tackle Kevin Wynn. While the Seminoles had veteran Darrell Jackson Jr. for one more year at the position, Wynn was supposed to learn and develop for 2026. He actually redshirted after four games this year after a minor injury and was expected to be a projected starter next season. However, he looks to be looking elsewhere with the intention of transferring.

Defensive linemen Desir Twins (undecided)

I understand that Mandrell and Darryll Desir are two completely different people, but they are twin brothers who do everything together. The fan base was in shock when it was announced that the Desir Twins would be entering the transfer portal. While it could be a leveraging situation with resources, the Seminoles don't have many options to play hardball. Mandrell had the best statistics out of the brothers, but the staff cannot allow the twins to leave Tallahassee.

Safety Earl Little Jr. (Ohio State)

Florida State defeated Alabama in Week 1 by a score of 31-17, and the biggest reason behind that included the efforts of former Crimson Tide safety Earl Little Jr. He played with so much aggression and physicality against that squad. However, the rest of the year didn't resemble the same efforts consistently. Little Jr. declared for the NFL Draft at first, but then decided to enter the transfer portal. To my surprise, he committed to Ohio State, where I hope he does well.
