Florida State sports has a busy weekend with FSU baseball and softball beginning ACC play. Both teams started their weekends with wins as baseball rebounded from its first-season loss with an 8-2 victory over Boston College.
Starting pitcher Joey Volini continued his streak of quality starts, going six innings and allowing one run(unearned), four hits, two walks, and striking out eight. Peyton Prescott (two innings) and Ben Barrett pitched the final frame. They combined for five strikeouts, one earned run and two walks.
Drew Faurot led the offense with three hits, including home runs from both sides of the plate. Jaxon West had three hits. Gage Harrelson and Alex Lodise had two hits, with Lodise hitting a home run. Freshman Myles Bailey hit his second home run in as many games. FSU and Boston College will play a doubleheader on Saturday.

FSU softball defeated Pittsburgh 8-3 on the road. Annabelle Widra and Jazzy Francik combined for seven innings. Widra got the win on four innings, allowing three earned runs, zero walks, and four strikeouts. Francik went three innings, allowing two hits, zero walks, and two strikeouts.
Jahni Kerr and Jaysoni Beachum had three hits, with Beachum hitting a home run. Amaya Ross had two hits, including her first home run this season. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday to wrap up the series.
FSU football recruiting got some news this week when blue-chip quarterback Landon Duckworth announced he would take an official visit to FSU in June. Duckworth is the top target for FSU coaches and may visit sometime this spring. Former FSU commit Brady Smigiel is trending towards the Washington Huskies.
