These five prospects are pivotal to the Seminoles' success on the recruiting trail.

Florida State's 2027 recruiting class still has plenty of work to do, as they rank outside the top-50 even with the additions of some pretty important prospects.

The elephant in the room is the job security of head coach Mike Norvell. The administration had to know that this could be the case when they elected to retain him for the 2026 season. There are some recruits out there who want the peace of mind that the head coach who recruited them will be in Tallahassee when they arrive on campus for the 2027 season.

Even with six losing seasons in eight years, Mike Norvell and the front office have still been able to have success. While I never want to beat my chest about the Seminoles having the 57th-best recruiting class, it is still too early to discredit this class, with the Early Signing Period being six months away.

With that said, here are five prospects that should be must-gets for Florida State football's 2027 recruiting class.

4-star OL DaJohn Yarborough

Assistant coach Herb Hand did a phenomenal job with the offensive line group last year, even though the group was quickly constructed with transfers. Coach Hand is losing transfers such as Luke Petitbon and Micah Pettus, so they have to replenish talent. The bad news is that the Seminoles don't have an offensive lineman committed to their 2027 class. However, four-star offensive lineman DaJohn Yarborough from Chandler, Arizona, is the top target for them. He officially visited the Seminoles on the weekend of June 12th and looks to be making a serious move for them.

4-star DL Sam LeJeune

Florida State already has three defensive linemen in the fold so far. However, the Seminoles aren't messing around when it comes to acquiring defensive trenches, as they landed eight in the 2026 cycle. One of the more important grabs is top-125 prospect Sam LeJeune from Poplarville, Mississippi. He is announcing on June 24th and has two crystal ball predictions in favor of the Seminoles.

4-star DL Karlos May

I want to stay on the same topic of the defensive line, but this could be a long shot for the Florida State Seminoles, as four-star defensive lineman Karlos May from Birmingham, Alabama. The Seminoles have already experienced PTSD from recruiting Alabama prospects. He dropped his top-four schools list to Florida State, Auburn, Georgia, and Ohio State. He officially visited the first weekend, but the Seminoles seem to be the fourth option in this scenario.

4-star DB Ta'Shawn Poole

Florida State recruiting lost out on four-star defensive back Mekhi Williams to Wisconsin. The Badgers aren't a program filled with wins lately, and their head coach, Luke Fickell, is also on the hot seat. However, the Seminoles aren't giving up their pursuit of defensive backs, as they are targeting four-star Ta'Shawn Poole from Macon, Georgia. Of course, the home-state Georgia Bulldogs are trying to grab him late, as Poole is officially visiting the Bulldogs before making a decision. Florida State holds the crystal balls, but it would have been better if he hadn't taken the trip to Georgia.

3-star RB Marquis Fennell

I guess it wouldn't be a top-five recruiting list without including a three-star prospect for "Three-star getter Mike Norvell". Some fans don't like the fact that they see the Seminoles going after three-star recruits. However, three-star Marquis Fennell from Valdosta, Georgia, is a different breed, as he recorded 2,200 yards and 33 touchdowns during his junior season (according to MaxPreps). He will also be making his announcement on June 25th.
