Florida State's 2027 recruiting class is sitting as the 56th-best in the country, according to 247Sports Composite. This isn't Florida Atlantic or Florida International that we are talking about. We are discussing Florida State. As most fans know, this recruiting trend has to change.

The good news is that this is only June, and we have a long way to go before the Early Signing Period in December. Obviously, the elephant in the room is that the Seminoles still have to play their 2026 season with head coach Mike Norvell on the hot seat.

This shouldn't be surprising to Seminole fans, as Norvell was on the hot seat during the 2021 offseason and went on to go 23-4 in 2022 and 2023 combined. The recruiting classes proved serviceable.

With that said, recruiting classes have been slightly devalued by the transfer portal, but it is important to gain young talent on the team to develop. College football fans used to make fun of Norvell's ability to find effective players in the portal instead of going all-in on the portal. Still, the issue that comes with that is the Florida State 2024 football season, where they struck out on many of the transfers and went 2-10 on the year.

Nonetheless, the coaching staff and front office are trying to balance high school recruiting and the transfer portal. The Seminoles have been on a heater lately with some of the pickups. They grabbed three-star wide receiver Majay Thompson yesterday after he officially visited last weekend. However, they have other prospects on campus this weekend.

Florida State has a slower June 19th recruiting weekend with three official visitors, but they need to land all of them

It might not seem like much, but Florida State has three official visitors on campus this weekend with three-star safety commit Jemari Foreman, three-star defensive end Stevan Thornton III, and three-star linebacker CJ Ohuabunwa.

Florida State is battling Louisville for Foreman's pledge. The defensive back is someone that they need to keep in the class after he secured eight interceptions during his junior season. He officially visited the Cardinals during the weekend of June 5th.

As for Thornton III, the Seminoles were in a position to land three-star defensive lineman Jason Lewis from Osceola High School in Kissimmee, Florida. However, Lewis decided to pledge to Syracuse after a recent official visit. Stevan Thornton III is someone that they recently offered and got on this official visit very quickly. Thornton III was actually committed to Alabama earlier this year, but it didn't last long. It seems like Florida State wants to pair Thornton III and Sam LeJeune in this class to round out the defensive linemen.

Finally, the Seminoles will be hosting three-star linebacker CJ Ohuabunwa, who was a late addition to the visitor list. He is from Norcross, Georgia, and Florida State is battling Louisville, Kansas, and Virginia Tech for his services. The 6'2" linebacker had a productive junior season with 124 tackles (8 for loss), two sacks, and four passes defended. This could be a nice replacement for losing four-star Gregory Batson.
