Florida State's 2027 recruiting class is not where the fan base wanted, as it ranked 60th-best according to the 247Sports Composite on Friday morning. The Seminoles have had recruiting momentum, with four-star defensive lineman Sam LeJeune and four-star defensive back Ta'Shawn Poole getting crystal ball predictions in favor of Florida State.
The bad news is that three-star defensive lineman Jason Lewis was once projected to commit to the Florida State Seminoles, but he ended up pledging to Syracuse on Thursday. This was a bummer, but it isn't the end of the world if Florida State grabs LeJeune, who is considered a top-125 prospect in the 2027 cycle.
Florida State acquired the services of three-star quarterback Logan Flaherty last month, but the Seminoles' coaching staff knew that it needed to grab a pass catcher in the fold. As a result, it landed four-star wide receiver Sean Green from the home-state Georgia Bulldogs.
Green was an impressive get for the Seminoles, but it seemed like Florida State wanted to grab one more pass catcher to its class, even though it landed six of them at the position in last year's recruiting haul.
Florida State lands three-star wide receiver Majay Thompson over Georgia, Alabama, and Wake Forest on Friday
The wide receiver targets were starting to go elsewhere, as four-star Jabari Watkins didn't even give the Seminoles the time of day and committed to Louisville. Then, five-star Jamarin Simmons from Tallahassee, Florida, pledged to the out-of-state Clemson Tigers. This was one that the fan base didn't like to see. Lastly, four-star Cam Wade committed to James Franklin and Virginia Tech.
The Seminoles had to feel the pressure to land the dynamic pass catcher with three-star Majay Thompson from Crest, North Carolina, and that is exactly what they did. Thompson took his official visit last weekend with Florida State, and some fans were thinking that the Seminoles might not be as interested.
It was going to be a smaller class of 2-3 wide receivers. Still, Florida State didn't seem like they were ready to dismiss Thompson's production from his junior season of high school, where he recorded 53 receptions for 865 yards and 13 touchdowns (according to MaxPreps). The thought was that Georgia was going to get a late visit from him, but the Bulldogs were not able to get it done. Florida State finished the job and got Thompson on Friday.

All of the signs started to point in the Seminoles' favor last night, as Noles247's Kolby Crawford and Dawgs247's Benjamin Wolk both inserted crystal ball predictions for Florida State with three-star wide receiver Majay Thompson. With him being an out-of-state prospect in North Carolina, it might be difficult for him to make plenty of trips to Tallahassee.
However, Florida State now has Majay Thompson, who is 5'11", and Sean Green, that is 5'10". This could be a situation where they could open the door back up with four-star Ethan Kimmie from Zachary, Louisiana. He is no longer officially visiting the Seminoles and looks to be visiting UNLV this weekend. Kimmie is a 6'3" option that they could continue to communicate with and keep around on their board.
Nonetheless, this was a solid grab for Florida State, as their entire focus needs to revolve around getting offensive linemen to protect the likes of Logan Flaherty.
