The neutral-site destination for Florida State's matchup against Georgia is a joke

This sounds like a sick joke for the site of this matchup between Florida State and Georgia.

Florida State and Georgia have already announced that they are cancelling their 2027 and 2028 home-and-home series against one another. This already made no sense, considering that this would have been a huge matchup to sell to the fan base for ticket sales at Doak Campbell Stadium.

Even though the matchup against Alabama was at 3:30 PM EST last year, it was an absolute slam dunk with opening the newly-renovated Doak Campbell Stadium. There were plenty of eyeballs on the game against the Crimson Tide.

With that said, I understand that TV networks want as much money as they possibly can. It has been noted that Florida State isn't in the best place financially, so when there is money involved, it can be useful for the Seminoles to jump on the opportunity.

We already saw the administration grab the chance to host the Savannah Bananas and the professional bull riding inside Doak Campbell Stadium. While it is unclear how much Florida State received from both events, they probably got enough to make it worth it.

Florida State and Georgia football could be playing in Nashville, Tennessee, for the 2028 season

Florida State and Georgia last played in the forgettable 2023 Orange Bowl, which the Seminoles lost by an embarrassing score of 63-3. This is something that the Seminoles want to put in the rearview mirror. To be honest, the loss could be the reason behind Florida State's struggles on the gridiron now.

Florida State did have a home-and-home series scheduled for 2027 and 2028, and, as I mentioned earlier, it was cancelled. The fan base was disappointed that the games were not going to be played in Tallahassee and Athens. Warchant's Ira Schoffel reported that the teams are planning to play their upcoming neutral-site game in Nashville, Tennessee.

Playing this in Nashville is a pitiful development. College football is all about showcasing traditions. It is safe to say that Florida State and Georgia are two top-20 all-time programs, and their home environments are some of the best in all of the sport.

It would have been awesome to see former Florida State graduate and current head coach Kirby Smart back in Tallahassee yet again. Who knows who the Seminoles or Bulldogs would be then, but it would have been an intriguing storyline to monitor.

College football has turned into a greed for money, and this is the harsh reality that this matchup would be ruined by it. Having this game in Nashville doesn't do any team any good. It is disappointing that we are even having this conversation about a neutral-site matchup because ten years ago, pairing Florida State and Georgia for a home-and-home would have been legendary.
