Coaching

The coaching staff Mike Norvell has put together has a bit more of a track record of working together than any staff Willie Taggart hired.

Norvell and Dillingham worked hand-in-hand on offense at Memphis. Adam Fuller ran the Memphis defense last season while working for Norvell.

Chris Thomsen coached with Mike Norvell for three seasons at Arizona State. He’ll be coaching tight ends at FSU, but coached the offensive line at Arizona State with Norvell.

That experience should be valuable for FSU offensive line coach Alex Atkins who has never coached with Norvell.

Almost all of the coaches have been coordinators at prior stops, which means it’s a relatively young but experienced staff.

All of these tie-ins should make the transition easier than it was for the previous staff that was piece-milled with coordinators who had no experience working together prior to arriving at FSU.

Coaching chemistry is as valuable as team chemistry, so I think it’s safe to say if FSU loses it’ll be because they lost to a better and more talented team.
