Defensive End

FSU hasn’t had a legitimate pass rusher since Brian Burns left after the 2018 season and was selected in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Two defensive tackles were tied for the lead in sacks for the Noles in 2019. Marvin Wilson and Cory Durden had five sacks each.

Amari Gainer had 3.5 sacks as a linebacker coming off the edge. Janarius Robinson had three sacks which were most of the team at the defensive end position.

To be fair, Joshua Kaindoh was injured in the third game and could have had more of a presence as a pass rusher. The good thing is they return in 2020 but only have one year of eligibility left.

There’s no proven depth behind them and this is where the Xavier Peters transfer hurts big time.

The Noles brought in TJ Davis, Josh Griffis and transfer Jarrett Jackson from Louisville. However, it’ll likely take a year or two for them to develop into players that can give meaningful snaps.

FSU needs big-time players at defensive end this recruiting cycle.
