Rid of Bad Influences/Backpack

One of the best things a coach can do is listen to his fan base. The backpack you see in the picture is no longer and a prime reason is because there was severe backlash about the idea from the onset from FSU football fans.

Admittedly, I was never a fan of the thing either as I would have much rather had a turnover spear of some sort. Nevertheless, the backpack is no more and it’s a great way to recognize Willie Taggart is still in tuned with this fan base.

I suppose now fan will want him to get the white numbers back, but that’s another topic for another day. The other huge thing Willie Taggart was able to do was get rid of a lot of bad influences(players) on the team.

Some were taken care of by graduation, others took care of themselves and made the decision easy for Taggart to let them seek a place to play elsewhere.

Nevertheless, they are no longer and the FSU program will be better off without them. The leadership of the team has improved greatly, and you can see that from the work the players put in this spring and summer.

It’s like the players have officially bought into the program which should pay dividends shortly.
