Coaching Hires

The ability to make changes when they’re needed is huge. Willie Taggart realized he needed to make some changes to his staff and did so.

He brought on three new coaches during the offseason with the additions of Kendal Briles, Randy Clements and Ron Dugans.

The good news? Dugans was a part of his staff at USF and Briles/Clements have coaches together for a number of years. Dugans is familiar with working with spread offenses too.

The current coaching staff is pretty much what Willie Taggart envisioned when he took the FSU football job.

Willie Taggart recognizing he needed to relinquish playcalling duties is huge. Not only that, he’s giving full control of the offense to a guy many consider one of the best in the game.

That alone should make the offense easier to organize/coordinate because there’s less cooks in the kitchen. Also, Briles handpicking Randy Clements to be his offensive line coach is huge because Clements knows the offense like the back of his hand.

These three additions along with moving David Kelly to recruiting coordinator have been huge which brings me to my next point.
