FSU Softball Ends Season With Super Regional Loss to LSU
By Jason Parker
FSU softball fell behind early and couldn’t comeback in Game Three of their series with LSU, ending the season short of a trip to the WCWS.
For the fifth straight season, FSU softball was one of the final 16 teams left standing in the NCAA Tournament as they entered this weekend’s Super Regional matchup against LSU. For the third time in that period, the Lady ‘Noles will be watching the final eight teams left standing as they were knocked out this weekend by the Tigers.
After a dominant win on Friday and a horrible loss on Saturday – in which they were held to one hit, which came with two outs in the seventh inning of a 1-0 loss – both teams met in the rubber match at JoAnne Graf Field on Sunday with plenty to prove.
LSU would strike first in the third inning as Sahvanna Jaquish sent one down the left field line that drove in two runs. FSU softball would add a run in the bottom of the inning, but the Tigers came back with three more runs in the top of the fourth inning – including two more RBI’s from Jaquish.
The Lady ‘Noles would inch back with two runs in the fourth – a RBI each from Korina Rosario and Ellie Cooper – and added another one in the sixth inning on a sac fly from Cooper:

It wouldn’t be enough as LSU added another run in the seventh inning and Dani Morgan, representing the tying run for FSU softball, flew out to end the seventh inning and the FSU season.
Jessica Burroughs, who has been dependable for most of the year, picked the wrong time to have an off day as she went just three and two thirds innings, giving up six hits and four runs. Meghan King finished the game by giving up two runs on four hits.
FSU softball finishes the season with a record of 55-8-1, the second most wins in program history for a team that didn’t make it to the Women’s College World Series. The Lady ‘Noles finished a perfect 24-0 in the ACC while losing five of their games against SEC foes (Florida, South Carolina, LSU and Texas A&M) and being swept by Oregon to end the regular season.
