Who are three players from the Seminoles' 2023 squad that will be missed in 2024?
LB KALEN DELOACH
As we alluded to in our numerous recruiting articles, the linebacker position is a group that could be worrisome for the Seminoles in 2024. The reasoning behind that statement is due to the fact that veterans Kalen DeLoach and Tatum Bethune have exceeded their eligibility.
With that being said, Florida State has to rely upon players such as DJ Lundy, Blake Nichelson, Omar Graham Jr., Shawn Murphy, and Justin Cryer. Most of those younger contributors do not have much experience. While the linebacker position does not matter as much given that the Seminoles utilize a 4-2-5 defensive scheme, it is important when being able to effectively stop the run.
Kalen DeLoach has been with the Seminoles since the 2019 season where he went through two different coaching staffs. Over the past three seasons with Florida State, the veteran has made his presence known where he recorded 202 total tackles (24.5 for loss) and 11 sacks.
Even when the Seminoles were blown out in the Orange Bowl matchup versus the Georgia Bulldogs, DeLoach gave everything that he had for the football team as he left the field where he was filled with emotions.
He will certainly remembered by a variety of Seminole fans. Hopefully, some of the younger players can step up in 2024.
