LOAD THE BOX DEFENSIVELY

Florida State's defense has been very poor at being able to stop the opposing team's rushing attack this year. The Seminoles allowed 190 rushing yards to Georgia Tech and 263 rushing yards to Boston College.

That is unfortunate for a defense as talented as the Seminoles. However, when you have to replace defensive pieces such as Jared Verse, Braden Fiske, Fabien Lovett Sr., Kalen DeLoach, Tatum Bethune, Jarrian Jones, Renardo Green, and Akeem Dent, the drop-off is bound to happen.

With that being said, the Seminoles did return pieces in 2024 such as Patrick Payton, Joshua Farmer, Darrell Jackson Jr., DJ Lundy, Azareye'h Thomas, Fentrell Cypress II, Kevin Knowles II, and Shyheim Brown.

One effective way in being able to stop the run effectively is by loading the box with defenders and playing man-to-man coverage on the outside. Florida State has not been beaten by opposing wide receivers on the outside. If they can load the box to stop the run and be mindful of running backs going out in the flats then this defense could be more than serviceable.
