GIVE QB DJ UIAGALELEI QUICKER READS

Florida State's coaching staff brought in former Clemson and Oregon State transfer DJ Uiagalelei this offseason. The thought process of bringing in Uiagalelei was to bridge the gap between the younger options on the roster such as Brock Glenn, Luke Kromenhoek, and Trever Jackson.

After three scoreless offensive drives against Boston College, fans in the stands screamed "We want Brock!". However, that tells me that the coaching staff does not feel comfortable inserting Glenn into the lineup even with Uiagalelei struggling.

I understand that Uiagalelei is a fifth-year quarterback. However, he is playing on a new team with a complex Mike Norvell offense. While I don't believe that Norvell has fully opened up the playbook to him, I do think that the veteran is overthinking his reads.

I think that Uiagalelei is staring too much into his progressions and not being decisive. Norvell should give him quicker reads in the playbook. I believe it should be two reads at the most and the football needs to be out of his hands. Slants, crossing patterns, and tunnel screens could be useful.
