FSU baseball: Way too early look at 2024-25 roster and needs
By Kelvin Hunt
Offensive
FSU will lose a ton from its offensive lineup. James Tibbs, Cam Smith, and Jaime Ferrer will likely depart via the 2024 MLB Draft. That's 50 percent of your home runs and 41 percent of your RBIs. Daniel Cantu was a redshirt senior who batted .308 with nine home runs and 43 RBI. He had some big hits early in the season. The centerpieces who should return next season will be Max Williams and Marco Dinges. Both guys hit double-digit home runs and batted over .300. Alex Lodise and Drew Faurot could return in the middle of a much-improved infield defense, and hopefully see progression offensively.
Both have solid potential there. Cal Fisher is a guy who probably should have seen more playing time as a freshman this season and will evolve into a larger role next season. It'll be interesting to see what happens with the often-injured D'Amez Ross and some other guys. How much progression can one expect from Jaxson West? I expect Link Jarrett to attack the transfer portal to add some proven hitters with power. A couple of outfielders, first baseman, and catcher would be ideal areas to explore. There will likely be a drop-off offensively, but the good news is the pitching could be special.
