Florida State football has acquired three transfers in the portal so far this offseason with quarterback Thomas Castellanos, tight end Markeston Douglas, and linebacker Stefon Thompson.
That is a solid start for a program that finished 2-10 on the year. However, as head football coach Mike Norvell has been saying all offseason: "The standard is the standard at Florida State!"
This program is filled with championship aspirations. This fan base is starving for sustainability. To be quite honest, the 2025 season is one of the more pivotal ones in the program's history. With that being said, the Seminoles have to acquire talent in the recruiting ranks and transfer portal to make things work out.
Florida State has been hosting several transfers on campus. One that I am most excited about is USC wide receiver Duce Robinson. His name might sound familiar because his father (Dominic Robinson) used to play for Florida State between 2001-2004.
We all saw how bringing in legacy players has worked with the Seminoles so far with Marvin Jones Jr., Lamont Green Jr., and Julian Armella. Don't get me wrong. I want to see those guys succeed and be a great human being. It just didn't pan out in Tallahassee, and that is okay.
Robinson could be a mismatch for opposing defenders with his 6'6" and 220 pounds. He had 23 receptions for 396 yards and five touchdowns with the Trojans in 2024. The former five-star prospect did not seem interested in Florida State during his high school recruitment process.
Florida State had a ton of success utilizing big-bodied players during the 2023 season when it had the likes of Johnny Wilson, Keon Coleman, and Jaheim Bell. Fast forward to 2025, the USC wide receiver transfer could give Thomas Castellanos a safety net to throw to if the offense needs to move the football on a pivotal third or fourth down to keep a drive alive.
Robinson is set to visit Florida State this week, and the Seminoles have to do whatever to get him to commit.
