Bring on the BISCUITS!!! Tight end Markeston Douglas returns to Florida State
Florida State announced that quarterback Thomas Castellanos will be joining the Seminoles. That was a polarizing move as it was someone that offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn was comfortable with to run his offense.
According to a 247Sports' Brandon Marcello report, Florida State has hired UCF offensive coordinator Tim Harris Jr. to be its wide receivers coach. This made it seem like the Seminoles were turning into the Florida State Knights.
However, the transfer portal is uncertain at times. You never truly know what you will get when you deal with 18-23-year-olds making a decision knowing there are unlimited transfers. With that being said, the Seminoles received news on Thursday afternoon that was out of left field.
Former Florida State and current Arizona State tight end transfer Markeston "Biscuit" Douglas announced that he would be returning to the Seminoles in 2025.
I didn't have that on my BINGO card for 2025, but here we are. It makes sense to have Douglas return, as he only had one reception for three yards during his lone season with the Sun Devils. When he played a majority of the snaps in 2022 and 2023 for the Seminoles, he accumulated 25 catches for 326 yards and four touchdowns.
Overall, the tight-end position room is bright with the likes of Landen Thomas, Amaree Williams, and four-star signee Chase Loftin. However, the coaching staff mentioned that it had a plan to work Williams at the defensive end position this upcoming season.
This acquisition helps the Seminoles since Douglas understands what it is like to be a Seminole, and he is a solid blocker. Florida State is expected to host Louisiana tight end transfer Terrance Carter on Monday for a visit. We will see if that trip still happens with Douglas committing to the program.
