Florida State's offense was considered one of the worst in college football during the 2024 season, where they limped to the finish line with a 2-10 record.

This is not the standard of the Seminoles. However, they got some exciting news on Wednesday night as former Boston College quarterback transfer Thomas Castellanos decided to commit to Florida State.

This was a polarizing move for the Seminoles as Castellanos had some question marks on his size (5'10"), passing ability, regression from 2023 to 2024, and the reasoning behind "quitting" on his football team and entering the transfer portal before the season ended.

I have already discussed the fact that I like the move to add Castellanos to the roster and potentially start him for the 2025 season opener versus Alabama. However, I realize that he needs offensive linemen and a variety of talented playmakers around him to be effective.

With that being said, Malzahn's offensive scheme is predicated on running the football. However, tight ends play a big role in the system where they can line up on the outside, serve as in-line blockers, and even be fullbacks in short-yardage situations.

Florida State offered Louisiana sophomore tight end transfer Terrance Carter recently. During the 2024 season, he recorded 48 receptions for 689 yards and four touchdowns for the Ragin' Cajuns.

I understand that the Seminoles have Landen Thomas, Amaree Williams, and Chase Loftin. However, Norvell mentioned during a media session that Williams could be getting some looks at the defensive end position in 2025 (which was the position that he was recruited to play).

Getting back to Carter, I spoke with the talented tight end on Wednesday, and he informed me that he was supposed to be visiting Florida State on Monday, December 16th. I asked the tight end what he was most looking forward to on the visit, and he stated the following: "Ready to view the city and see what coach got cooking."

This would be a sold grab for the Seminoles on offense.
