Former FSU WR Keon Coleman gets on video call to seal deal for WR commit
Florida State football is entering a pivotal time in its recruiting calendar as the Early Signing Period has arrived. The Seminoles finished with a 2-10 record with so many losses that the fan base started to lose track.
Head football coach Mike Norvell has his work cut out for him as the Seminoles look to get back to sustainability. Florida State finished with an undefeated regular season and a conference championship in 2023. However, the Seminoles have been abysmal in 2024.
Norvell has to find a way to acquire talented pieces in the transfer portal and recruiting ranks. One player who helped the Seminoles be successful in 2023 was wide receiver Keon Coleman. Coleman was formerly a member of the Michigan State Spartans before joining Florida State.
The pass catcher was already a pass catcher that many schools wanted before he ended up in Tallahassee. However, Coleman thought that he could benefit from playing with a group of talented players at Florida State to elevate his draft stock.
The former Michigan State product was drafted in the second round by the Buffalo Bills, and it turns out that he might think his successful draft position was not because of the Seminoles. On a podcast episode of Noles247's "On the Bench", some of the individuals mentioned a rumor that Coleman was swaying recruits away from Florida State.
While Noles247 decided to confirm the rumor, I don't like to speculate about events that might not be true. Nonetheless, Florida State got a commitment on Tuesday night as three-star wide receiver Teriq Mallory made it official.
Mallory dropped a video centered around his official visit with the Seminoles, and one interesting aspect of it was that he received a FaceTime call from former Florida State wide receiver Keon Coleman.
It is encouraging to see that Coleman is still involved with Florida State even though he only played there for one season and that the Seminoles finished with a 2-10 record, and he is still claiming them.
Nonetheless, I am happy that Mallory is a part of the Florida State family.
