BOOM!!! 3-star WR Teriq Mallory has committed to Florida State
The Early Signing Period is right around the corner for the Florida State Seminoles. Thankfully, the Seminoles have finished its 2024 campaign with a 2-10 record. The disaster is finally over.
Luckily, the fans have enjoyed the excitement of the new offensive coordinator, Gus Malzahn, and defensive coordinator, Tony Williams. Florida State head football coach Mike Norvell wanted to try and create positive momentum for the Seminoles going into the offseason.
The job isn't finished, as Florida State ranks as the 53rd-best recruiting class in the 2025 cycle, according to 247Sports Composite. The secret to achieving sustainable success is acquiring talent via the recruiting ranks.
I realize that the program is in dire need of success during the 2025 season. Some even think that Mike Norvell could be fired if he does not uphold a certain standard with all of the changes.
Florida State recently got some success on the recruiting trail with the commitment of Class of 2025 three-star JUCO wide receiver Jordan Scott. The 6'7" playmaker was needed in the fold since the Seminoles had lost the commitments of four-star wide receivers CJ Wiley, Daylan McCutcheon, and CJ Wiley.
However, on Tuesday night, Florida State ended up securing another big-bodied wideout in three-star Teriq Mallory from Cheshire Academy in Cheshire, Connecticut. He was previously committed to the West Virginia Mountaineers.
With head football coach Neal Brown being fired from the Mountaineers, it was a matter of time before Florida State got Mallory in the fold with him visiting this past weekend for the Florida game. The Connecticut native is listed at 6'5" and 190 pounds, so it becomes apparent that they want to add size to the position room.
In my opinion, he isn't a world-beater or someone that the fan base will get overly excited about, given the star ranking, but he is someone who is a low-risk/high-reward type of ceiling that many should be able to get behind.
