FSU football coaches have quietly gone about their business over the last two weeks in the transfer portal. FSU has had 19 players exit the program, most of which have not and will not be contributors moving forward.
That's what we call trimming the fat to maximize every scholarship. FSU has added nine players to its roster since the transfer portal opened earlier this month.
I wrote about some of the things the coaching staff have prioritized thus far, and the roster is already better because all nine will likely be immediate contributors to FSU in 2025.
They've addressed every position they had to hit so far, but there are still some holes to fill on the roster. FSU had players on campus until the dead period for the transfer portal started this week.
Coaches can still contact players, but they can't visit. Plus, players on teams involved in the College Football Playoffs will have a chance to enter the portal, and FSU can recruit those guys. In the past, some of FSU's best portal additions have come between Christmas and early January.
