Mike Norvell and the new coaching staff at FSU football closed well during the Early Signing Period earlier this month. They added some quality players down the stretch, signing 20 high school players.

However, they expected a double-digit number of players to exit the program via the transfer portal or to declare for the NFL Draft.

That meant they would need to attack the transfer portal to add quality players like the 2022 and 2023 cycles that helped them go on a 23-4 run and the first ACC Title in a decade.

FSU has had 18 players exit the program for the transfer portal. They've had nine additions thus far, and I'm confident saying the roster has already made tremendous improvement.

The guys who exited the program either never contributed, barely contributed, failed to meet expectations, or couldn't stay healthy enough to contribute. In other words, a lot of deadweight needed to be replaced.

The coaching staff is taking a much different approach compared to last year. Here are three crystal clear things the coaching staff is prioritizing in the Winter Transfer Portal window.
