FSU football: 3 benefits of not making a bowl game after disastrous season

High School Recruiting
The other thing that comes with hiring new staff is the high school recruiting aspect. Teams usually start recruiting cycles years ahead of time, building relationships that turn into players signing with your program.
A recent example is four-star running back Ousmane Kromah. FSU had been recruiting him for over three years before he signed last week. FSU has new staff, so these coaches may not value the same players as the previous coaching staff. They must get to work as soon as possible building those relationships with players in 2026 and beyond.
It's why you saw FSU defensive coach Terrance Knighton sending offers on Tuesday night, just days after officially getting hired at FSU.
The coaching staff must hit the ground running during this transition period and move between schools. There may be some overlap, but recruiting in Nebraska is a different logistic recruiting ground compared to FSU, and FSU has three coaches who came from Nebraska.
The extra time without bowl practices is a gift for the coaches to do many things, and their families getting established in Tallahassee is another important aspect.
