Florida State athletics have had a busy week, returning back to normal after the craziness on campus a week ago. It's been positive vibes since, with multiple teams winning and news with the NFL Draft and transfer portal.
FSU baseball (31-7, 12-4 ACC) won its sixth consecutive game 10-2 behind a pitching gem against Louisville on Friday night. The game was delayed by inclement weather, but that didn't stop the Noles from jumping in the Louisville Cardinals early.
FSU opened a 4-0 lead in the top of the first behind an inside-the-park homerun from Myles Bailey. Frankly, that's all Jamie Arnold would need as he cruised through 7.2 innings, allowing six hits, two earned runs, two walks, and 11 strikeouts.
FSU batters had 13 hits and five home runs total, with multiple batters with multi-hit games. They will continue their series on Saturday at 2 p.m. ET.
FSU softball (41-6, 15-1 ACC) won its seventh consecutive game with a 10-9 road win over Louisville. The Noles opened a 9-0 lead going into the bottom of the fifth before Louisville cut the lead to 9-5.
FSU scratched across a run in the top of the seventh before Louisville scored four in the bottom frame. The Cardinals had the tying run on third and the winning run on first with two outs as freshman sensation Jazzy Francik for the final out. They will continue their series on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Azareya'h Thomas slid into the third round before getting selected No. 73 overall by the NY Jets. He joins former Noles Jordan Travis and Jermaine Johnson in the Big Apple, and my colleague Taylor Devers wrote about how he'll make teams pay for passing on him. Joshua Farmer is No. 4 on the best available board and will likely get drafted in the fourth round on Saturday.
FSU got its first commitment from the Spring Portal Window, and we wrote how he'll immediately upgrade the defense. FSU will have another major target on campus this weekend.
