Florida State football went 5-7 in 2025 after defeating the likes of Alabama in the season opener. After winning against the Crimson Tide, individuals thought that the Seminoles had the capability of making it to the College Football Playoff.
However, the dream turned into a nightmare very quickly for the Seminole faithful, as the program lost seven of its final nine games to end the season and not make a bowl game appearance for the fourth time in six years.
As a result, ESPN's Paul Finebaum and Greg McElroy are laughing in the faces of Florida State fans, hoping that their SEC darling Alabama can beat the Seminoles in a revenge game in 2026 so that they can say that they knew Florida State were impostors.
Wide receiver Duce Robinson could be a special player in 2026 for Florida State
There haven't been many optimistic updates surrounding the program this offseason, but one piece of news that doesn't get discussed enough is that junior wide receiver Duce Robinson decided to return to Tallahassee for his senior season.
This was a massive upgrade for the offense that will be welcoming in a new signal-caller after former quarterback Thomas Castellanos's eligibility has expired. Robinson is a 6'5" pass catcher who has the capability of catching anything in the vicinity.
Obviously, the former USC transfer had things that he needed to work on in terms of being a more consistent wide receiver (think of the Virginia game with the bobbling). He wants to leave his own lasting legacy at Florida State separate from his father's.
Robinson had 56 receptions for 1,081 yards and six touchdowns during the 2025 season (according to ESPN Stats and Information), and it looks like the Seminoles will force-feed him in 2026 with head football coach Mike Norvell calling the plays.
ESPN's Mark Schlabach dropped his Way-Too-Early All-America Team for the 2026 college football season (click here for the full article), and the wide receivers that he selected were Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith and Texas's Cam Coleman.
To be honest, Texas gets overhyped every year. Coleman is a talented pass catcher, and I don't want to take anything away from the former five-star prospect's skill set. However, Duce Robinson had a better statistical output in 2025, where Coleman had 56 receptions, 708 yards, and five touchdowns last year (according to ESPN Stats and Information).
This list by Schlabach indicates that he is going by potential instead of production, but Florida State fans know that Duce Robinson is going to prove the doubters wrong in 2026.
