3 prospects that Florida State has cooled off on in the 2027 recruiting cycle

Florida State might not be in the best position to land these recruits.

Florida State's 2027 recruiting class has finally caught some positive momentum with the recent commitments of four-star linebacker Jernard Albright, four-star running back Jayden Miles, four-star wide receiver Sean Green, and three-star defensive lineman Eric Vaulx Jr.

Life was looking pretty rough as a Seminole fan a few weeks ago. The arch-rivals, Florida and Miami, were plucking away elite talent all over the place (they still are), but it seems like Florida State has stopped the bleeding somewhat.

The crazy part about all of this is that quarterback commit Logan Flaherty mentioned that the Seminoles are not finished with their recruiting efforts. They still have more coming to Tallahassee to be part of what is advertised as the change to get back to their winning ways.

Florida State football still needs to deliver on the gridiron this season because the 7-17 overall record over the last two years is something that makes any fan want to throw up. That is not the standard that the legendary Bobby Bowden set for this remarkable program.

With that said, the administration must feel fairly confident that Norvell can get the Seminoles back to their 2022 and 2023 form, where they had a combined 23-4 record in that timeframe. High school recruits just want consistency with winning results, and Florida State hopes to have that in 2026.

There have been plenty of positive updates on the recruiting front, and I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but here are three prospects that I feel could be trending away from Florida State.

4-star DE Sam LeJeune

Florida State has two defensive linemen in its class that is committed, with four-star Anthony Cavallaro and three-star Eric Vaulx Jr. It should be noted that three-star Jason Lewis could be coming to Florida State soon with a commitment. However, it will be interesting to see what they do with four-star Sam LeJeune, who officially visits this weekend. LeJeune is someone that is being recruited by Auburn, California, and Washington. Florida State has to find a way to make a good impression this weekend.

4-star IOL DeJohn Yarborough

Florida State doesn't have any offensive linemen coming in to visit this summer. However, one of the biggest prospects is four-star DeJohn Yarborough from Chander, Arizona. Yarborough is an interior offensive lineman who is listed at 6'5" and 340 pounds. Assistant coach Herb Hand has done a tremendous job developing the offensive line in his first year, but if the Seminoles keep playing transfers over homegrown talent, it could be a mess getting offensive line recruits to Florida State. The Seminoles are battling California, Mississippi State, and Washington.

4-star LB Frederrick Ford

Four-star linebacker Frederrick Ford visited Florida State this past weekend, but it didn't seem mutual for both sides, and he didn't speak with the media when he left the official visit. It was always strange to me that Ford included four SEC schools and Florida State (even though I wouldn't be opposed to getting the SEC money). I commend the Seminoles for seeking out talent, even with the late offer.
