FSU football learned its fate by the College Football Playoff committee on Sunday afternoon. The undefeated ACC champion Florida State Seminoles were placed at the number five spot where they were jumped by a one-loss SEC champion Alabama Crimson Tide.

When the College Football Playoff committee was asked about the Seminoles’ dropping in the rankings, the chairman of the committee Boo Corrigan (who is also the athletic director at North Carolina State) stated that it was because Florida State was a different team without their redshirt senior quarterback Jordan Travis.

Unfortunately, the veteran signal-caller suffered a gruesome leg injury in the first half versus North Alabama. As a college football fan, it was difficult to witness a player such as Jordan Travis go through the injury after everything he has been through in his collegiate career.

During the 2023 season, the former Louisville transfer completed 207 of his 324 passes for 2,755 yards and 20 touchdowns with only two interceptions. He also showcased his dual-threat ability with 176 rushing yards and seven yards.

As we alluded to in a previous article, the College Football Playoff Committee is a joke that has caused outrage among the fanbase and even individuals who don’t have any emotional ties with the program. College football is a team sport, not an individual sport.

While Travis is a very pivotal part of Florida State’s success at the top of the sport. He is not the only talented player on the roster. The Seminoles have numerous NFL-caliber players on its roster such as Trey Benson, Johnny Wilson, Keon Coleman, Jaheim Bell, Jared Verse, and Braden Fiske, among others.

Since the committee wants to point towards the veteran quarterback being such a special player, why isn’t Travis included in the Heisman Trophy award ceremony in New York? On Monday, the four finalists for the award were LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels, Oregon quarterback Bo Nix, Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. and Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr.

The main point of this article is to showcase that the committee continues to showcase its unprofessionalism by not putting the most deserving team in Florida State.
