I had FSU football at the top half of my preseason ACC Power Rankings, and so far so good after seven weeks.

FSU football dominated the Syracuse Orange 41-3 to remain unbeaten and the only unbeaten team in the state of Florida.

The biggest news out of the weekend was Miami losing to North Carolina and Pittsburgh upsetting previously undefeated Louisville. Duke rolled NC State, and Virginia Tech dismantled Wake Forest.

Clemson, Georgia Tech, Virginia, and Boston College were on bye-weeks.

Anyways, here are my updated rankings after week seven:

  1. FSU football
  2. North Carolina
  3. Duke (+1)
  4. Clemson
  5. Louisville (-2)
  6. Miami
  7. Georgia Tech (+1)
  8. Syracuse
  9. Virginia Tech (+3)
  10. NC State
  11. Boston College
  12. Wake Forest (-3)
  13. Pittsburgh
  14. Virginia

Thoughts

FSU remain top the standings and will welcome the Duke Blue Devils to Tallahassee in a primetime matchup Saturday night.

North Carolina will host Virginia after the hard-fought victory over Miami to stay unbeaten. Louisville will have a bye-week after the upset loss against Pittsburgh.

Syracuse will be on a bye after a murderer’s row slate of Clemson, North Carolina, and FSU. Virginia Tech will be on a bye and will face Syracuse when they return to action on October 26th. Miami will host Clemson after back-to-back losses, and Clemson is coming into that game off their bye-week.

That’s likely not a good thing for Miami, who has suffered back-to-back losses. Boston College hosts Georgia Tech and Pittsburgh hosts Wake Forest. It looks like FSU and North Carolina could be on a collision course to meet in the ACC Championship game, but the Tarheels must run the gauntlet of Duke, Clemson, and NC State to finish their season. FSU has Duke and Miami as their toughest conference games left.

Louisville is still in play and must play Duke and Miami as their two toughest tests remaining. It’ll be interesting to see how it all shakes out, but all eyes will be in Tallahassee in that top 25 showdown. Will Duke’s starting QB play? If so, I have my doubts he’ll be 100 percent, but the Noles will be betting favorites either way.
