Continuity/Mentality/Development Young Guys

Jammie Robinson returning means Adam Fuller won’t have to waste time worrying about which player will try to fill the void he would have left.

Again, that’s the leading tackler, interceptions leader, and the biggest threat in the secondary to make a tackle for a loss.

This type of continuity allows Fuller to focus on developing young talent like Sam McCall and Azareyeh Thomas, who enrolled this spring.

It’ll also provide opportunities for other defensive backs to settle into their expected roles. I’m sure they will cross-train some, but they will have to spend less time figuring out who can do what and get into the ins and outs of the defense, especially the communications piece. That will be invaluable for all of the young players looking to develop.

The mentality of Jammie Robinson had a large effect on the team last year. It was the first time in years the secondary seemed to play with an edge and laid the wood to opposing teams. Robinson wasn’t afraid to do that in the run game or against larger players like tight ends in space as evident in the highlight video. Young guys getting to experience playing with a player like Robinson should help set that standard for years to come.
