FSU football had five defensive players to earn All-ACC Honors in 2021. Fans already knew the Noles would lose first and second-team selections Jermaine Johnson and Keir Thomas.

However, there was a possibility another first-team selection, Jammie Robinson, could return for the 2022 season. Fans have been waiting for weeks to hear what Robinson’s decision would be, and they were elated when he announced the decision to return for the 2022 season Thursday afternoon.

Several players have announced they plan to return: Camren McDonald, Robert Cooper, and Amari Gainer are a few names. We’re still waiting to hear from defensive tackle Fabien Lovett, but Jammie Robinson might be the most important person returning for the defense.

The team’s leading tackler (84) and leader in interceptions (4), Robinson seemed to be the glue that held the secondary together once he found his permanent home at safety after a few games in 2021.

He was also third on the team with seven tackles for a loss. That’s a lot of production and experience returning in what could be a pivotal year for FSU defensive coordinator Adam Fuller.

The defense improved drastically in 2021, but let’s look at the importance of Robinson coming back in 2022.
