I think a good team is in Tallahassee somewhere, and it is still practicing in the Moore Center. It is under the debris of this fallen season.

Starting 1-4 was never the plan. The hope was that these initial contests would provide a cushion for a difficult latter half so this team could become bowl game eligible again.
However, it shouldn’t be lost on us as fans how close this team could be to 4-1. They had three games lost by only one score. The loss against Notre Dame probably has a direct correlation to the subsequent losing skid.

I think the hangover of the Notre Dame game led to the overthinking and ineptitude at every level during the JSU contest. That caused the team to get down on themselves, and some bad bounces and coverage lapses meant the Wake Forrest game wasn’t even competitive.

If these Seminoles could have been 1-2 or 2-1 going into Louisville, I think that result also goes the other way. I go through this exercise to belabor how close this team is to borderline competency. It also shows how one game doesn’t happen in a vacuum, and this context creates a “what if?” universe where coveted bowl eligibility is more than feasible.

Sites have made a point about Norvell’s emphasis on finishing games, simply because that hadn’t happened up until the result against Syracuse. Notable alumnus Marvin Jones said that winning is a learned behavior, so does this recent win gets the bad taste out of the team’s mouth, and they can salvage this season?

Can they separate the rest of the season from their bad start and focus on the Syracuse win to build on and start a winning run? Not many of the remaining opponents scare me (except for Florida and Clemson, kinda), and this year in college football has been so weird that anything is possible.
