Defense

Jermaine Johnson has been “DOMINANT” according to 247sports. His skill set could be a problem for opposing offenses, and highlights have shown his bend, athleticism, and power.

His ability can improve the FSU defense if he performs like this in the season. Another transfer  who has flashed is Brandon Moore, who has established himself as a strong hitter and received shout-outs on Twitter for takeaways.

Jammie Robinson has received praise in week one.

An interesting thing will be following along with how these pieces in the secondary will playout. Jarrian Jones has been highlighted for a couple of takeaways in week one, and here’s footage from one of them:

How will this staff balance satiating all of the talent? The switch to the 4-2-5 base scheme helps, but there are still quality pieces that could emerge in the coming weeks. It seems the defense is ahead of the offense, and that’s usually a good thing.

Offense

Jashaun Corbin joined the Seminoles last season and was still shaking off the effects of his hamstring injury. This season he looks fully healthy, and he has been labeled “a star” by coach Norvell and has shown to be a quality pass blocker.

He has established himself as a leader in the locker room and seems bought in with the coaching staff. If he can continue his good form from last season through spring and into next season, he’ll be a big part of the offense.

Speaking of production, transfer running back DJ Williams will be one too. He was solid in one-on-one’s against linebackers as he was the only one who could stop Amari Gainer. He also has shown he can be more of a bruiser and that he has sure hands.

I expect him to get tough yards and to be a sneaky threat on running back screens. It will be interesting to see how the backfield plays out with Corey Wren returning from injury. What role will Lawrence Toafili have and balancing what to give to Williams while running Corbin as the feature back?

It’ll be interesting to see how things unfold as the weeks go.
