The offensive team struggled in pads, but the wide receiver room looks good aside from several drops earlier in the week.

Keyshawn Helton has practiced without his knee brace for a couple of days in a row and looks to be getting back to his pre-injury form.

Kentron Poitier is someone Mike Norvell mentioned by name. He has had a lot of good days with athletic plays, but he has been plagued by drops.

The freshmen currently on campus have also set themselves apart. Joshua Burrell specifically has built up a lot of strength and has sure hands.

He can make tough catches and had a good one on one series with DB Kevin Knowles:

McClain has good hops with deep speed, and that is a potent combination. Bryan Robinson is filling out his frame nicely and has had some impressive catches early on. Both he and Darion Williamson are shaking off their respective injuries and have shown flashes of what they can do.

Now we move on to QBs, and despite it seeming like a forgone conclusion that McKenzie Milton will be our starter come September 5th, Jordan Travis is still fighting.

He has looked good, and you can see the improved arm strength and throwing motion in the practice highlights. Milton has a quick release that is as advertised but looks like someone who is still learning a new system. He said as much in his post-practice interview last week.

Tate Rodemaker has shown improvement and looked sharp so far. He has been consistent and made smart throws. Chubba Purdy struggled, forcing his throws but looked his best running on option plays and throwing deep balls. I think he really wants to win the job this year and could be trying too hard to show out, but that is all speculation.

Purdy has taken to Milton a lot and is learning underneath him, so it will be interesting to see how he developed as both a leader and a player.

It would be interesting to see if Rodemaker can use this spring to help his turnover problems and push everyone to be better but, so far, it is a two-horse race for the QB1 job between Milton and Travis, and it will go for longer than we think.
