Sign Graduate Transfer QB

I think Mike Norvell was already going to go this route based on what happened during the season.

There will be several options out there, including one that Mike Norvell coached for several years at Memphis in Brady White.

I’m not advocating he’s the guy, but if he’s the worst option Norvell has, I think he could be serviceable enough to help the offense be better for one year.

It would be a band-aid, but a band-aid is all that’s needed with the right guy. FSU needs a quarterback with experience and the ability to learn Mike Norvell’s offense in a hurry.

A graduate transfer could provide that, making the offense look closer to what Norvell offenses have looked like in the past while giving the other quarterbacks on the roster time to develop.

I would also look to move Jordan Travis to wide receiver, and use him only in emergency quarterback situations or some variation of the wildcat when opportunities arise.

Travis gave the offense a spark when he was healthy, but I’m not sure he can stay healthy an entire season. I’m not sure he’d be worth trying to develop as a passer for that reason alone. On the other hand, he’s too dynamic with the ball in his hands not to find a spot on the field for him.

This move would give Chubba Purdy and Tate Rodemaker more reps in practice as well. I wouldn’t sign a QB from the transfer portal with multiple years of eligibility.
