Lack of Culture/Leadership

I’ve talked about it before, but the program began to decline after the 2013 national championship. Jimbo Fisher did a great job of assembling a team that ultimately became led by the players.

However, several of those players exited the program after winning the national title. A few players remained in 2014 like, Lamarcus Joyner, Karlos Williams, and Rashad Greene, who were upperclassmen with enough production/clout to hold their teammates accountable when they were not meeting the standard that was set by the last couple of years.

The farther they got away from that national title, the fewer players remained to enforce the accountability needed, not to mention Jimbo Fisher lost the edge to hold players accountable on his end as well.

That resulted in promise notes being signed in 2016 for players to give 100 percent effort, etc.

Players were not going to class or offseason workouts. The coaching staff was not holding them accountable, nor were there enough players to enforce accountability like years past.
