Less Development and Accountability

This portion isn’t to bash Willie Taggart. No question he inherited a mess, but there was still a good bit of talent on the FSU football roster.

One of the biggest mistakes Willie Taggart and his staff made was trying to be the player’s friend instead of coaching and developing them.

He also made a questionable hire to oversee strength and conditioning, which resulted in a lack of development on the physical side of things. This area was already lacking under Jimbo Fisher because players didn’t respect Vic Viloria, who oversaw S&C for Fisher.

Once Viloria had the off the field drinking incident and wasn’t held accountable by Jimbo Fisher? All respect went out the door.

So that’s at least two years of falling behind in the physical development side of things coupled with two more years under Willie Taggart and his coaching staff. There was a lack of development with some position coaches late in Jimbo Fisher’s tenure coupled with the staff Taggart hired.
How has FSU football gotten so bad, you ask? It’s been roughly 4-5 years of little to no development on the field or in the weight room. How often have you seen FSU’s blue-chip players looking lost or getting bullied by a team full of three-star players? There has been no accountability or discipline from the players(in general, not all) or coaches.
