No Pass Rush

I put some blame on the pass coverage earlier, and some of that is partly to blame on this area. I tweeted early in the game I didn’t see much of a pass rush.

I thought it was Adam Fuller running more base defense and feeling out what Georgia Tech was trying to do offensively.

Some of the lack  of pass rushes was Georgia Tech being able to get rid of the ball quickly, and I think another factor was them trying to be disciplined with a mobile quarterback.

However, the pass rush just never seemed to be a factor Jeff Sims had to deal with, and he made them pay by hitting open receivers or scrambling for yards with his legs.

FSU’s defense had one sack, and only two quarterback hurries according to ESPN’s stats.

That’s not going to get it done, and what’s worse is Georgia Tech isn’t anything special offensively.

They just seemed to want it more than FSU, especially in the second half, when they scored their first touchdown.

It seemed like once they finally broke through, their confidence grew, and they kept being more aggressive on both sides of the ball.

It ultimately all paid off for them as they pulled off the upset after overcoming a ton of adversity themselves.

It’s something FSU football is going to have to find out how to do quickly, or this season will be over before it gets started.
