Missed Tackles/Run Defense

How many times did FSU miss a tackle on Jeff Sims in the backfield? Too many to count, not to mention it seemed Georgia Tech ball carriers always fell forward.

The run defense wasn’t great, and the Noles only had six tackles for loss against a Georgia Tech offensive line that’s not good.

Georgia Tech’s running backs averaged over four years per carry on the night and repeatedly got to the outside because FSU’s defense wasn’t setting the edge.

I understand FSU has little depth at defensive end, and Joshua Kaindoh was lost early in the game on that dirty chop block.

However, that’s no excuse, as there’s no reason Georgia Tech should have been able to repeatedly bounce runs outside.

The defensive line was supposed to be a strength on this defense, but they didn’t dominate Georgia Tech the way they should have. That’s not a great sign moving forward.
