Special Teams

Special team is an area the Noles have struggled the past few years, but I believe this phase of the game will be much-improved in 2020.

This scrimmage is the second week in a row where Mike Norvell has seemed pleased with how this unit has performed.

He has referenced it several times during the week, so they are spending quite a bit of time on this phase of the game. After all, it’s the phase of the game he mentioned in his introductory press conference.

It sounds like they are putting all of their best players on this unit, whether it’s Tamorrion Terry, Asante Samuel Jr., Jashun Corbin, and others.

Adam Fuller did mention Cyrus Fagan blocking a kick, so that’s something you don’t want to hear. However, I believe Mike Norvell is referencing the ability of special teams to impact field position.

An improved defense and special teams unit can win games as long as the offense doesn’t consistently shoot itself in the foot.
