FSU football wide receiver Warren Thompson was at the center of controversy earlier this week. Now it appears he’s ready to move forward after issuing an apology.

FSU football wide receiver Warren Thompson threw the social media world upside down earlier this week after stating concerns surrounding COVID-19.

The talented wide receiver called into question “FSU leadership” in a vague statement that left FSU football head coach Mike Norvell unsure what Thompson was referring too.

Norvell had talked to Thompson the night before Thompson issued the statement, which made things odder, but now it looks as though Thompson has come to an understanding.

Thompson issued the statement below on social media Sunday night:

Thoughts

Mike Norvell was asked if he had talked to Warren Thompson the day after Thompson issued the statement. Norvell indicated he had not, and the team was all on the same page moving forward.

It appears the two have had a chance to discuss what Thompson’s issues were, and it could have been a misunderstanding on Thompson’s part altogether.

The biggest issue most people had with what Thompson did was issuing a vague statement without clearly specifying what his issues were. Mike Norvell used the word “disappointed” when describing how he felt after hearing what Thompson had done.

That likely stems from him talking with Thompson hours before that happening, and seemingly unaware how he felt.

Novell has communicated numerous times he has an open-door policy as well as all of his coaches. It would have been best if Thompson had gone to FSU wide receivers coach Ron Dugans with his issue, and then to Mike Norvell if need be instead of putting a vague statement out on social media.

At least Thompson has used the same method to issue an apology and clear the air of sorts. Rumors were rampant that he might opt-out of the season after the incident, but for now, it appears he’s ready to get to work at FSU.
