FSU football continues to look for playmakers in its 2021 recruiting class. They added a big one with IMG Academy WR Malik McClain.

FSU football was in a recruiting lull since offensive lineman Kimo Makenole committed a couple of weeks ago.

However, they received their first commitment in August when three-star WR Malik McClain announced his commitment Saturday morning.

It was great timing for Mike Norvell as the Noles have had a tumultuous week with its wide receiver group on social media.

McClain announced his commitment via his Twitter account below:

His commitment brings the 2021 recruiting class total to 15, and their national ranking to No. 21 some blue-chip recruits still on their board.

McClain is considered the No. 415 player nationally, No. 64 wide receiver, and No. 68 player in the state of Florida.

McClain checks in at 6’4″ and 195 pounds with 14 offers from the likes of FSU, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Miami, Kentucky, Maryland, Penn State, Ole Miss, Syracuse, Texas A&M, and some smaller schools.

McClain continues the trend of players being multi-sport athletes as he plays basketball and runs track.

He’s the second wide receiver in this class, with the Noles still trending with four-star Destyn Pazon, who’s yet to announce his commitment.

McClain offers size, length, and verified 40-yard time of 4.5s and reminds me of Tamorrion Terry a bit. He’s still raw when it comes to the route tree, but can go up and make ridiculous catches.

McClain plays at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, but is originally from Alabama, who offered him in March.

McClain was offered by the old staff in June 2019, which FSU wide receiver coach Ron Dugans was a part of. McClain is an excellent addition to the class, and his star ranking isn’t reflective of his talent and potential.
